Valentine's Day Fundraiser

I normally wouldn’t participate in the Valentine’s Day flower sales, but this year I wanted to do something a little different. After working in flowers shops the last few years this Love Day holiday seemed to be so much more about that money then anything else. I get it, that is how flower shops make most of their money. Since I do not have a retail shop I thought it was the perfect opportunity to bring some love back into the holiday this year!

I have heard many good things about this Tucson organization, Youth On Their Own. Once I did a bit more research and found out what they did I knew that this was where the Vday money was supposed to go. I am so lucky and grew up with the best parents & support system at home (they even modeled the flowers for me). It hurts my heart knowing that not everyone is as lucky, but that is reality and is why ELEMENT is doing what we can to support them this year!

I also wanted to make sure these bouquets were not wasteful so I did some more research so I could make these have the least amount of plastic as possible. The bouquets were wrapped in a 100% biodegradable and compostable Floral Hydration Stem Sponge-Wrap™ System, Eco Fresh Bouquet ®, Eco-Wraps (https://ecofreshbouquet.com/) and secured in a 100% biodegradable and compostable bag made from corn and toxin free (https://bonniebio.us/). And they were all nicely wrapped in newspaper that was donated to us!

Youth on Their Own said it best, “for the youth who simply need a hand up- not a “hand out” to make the successful transition into further education, work and adulthood.“

Thank you to everyone who bought a bouquet. Your money went towards this amazing organization right here in Tucson.
